Bloggers Christmas Beauty Brawl: Mario Badescu Hydro Moisturizer With Vitamin C

I hope you all enjoyed day one of the Blogger Brawl! I enjoyed reading about the masks the other ladies chose and if I can find them I will definitely be trying them out! The great thing about the brawl is if you need last minute Christmas gift/stocking stuffer ideas you will have a lot of great options!

Day two we are reviewing Moisturizers. I love moisturizer because it keeps the skin looking beautiful and soft. I chose Mario Badescu's Hydro Moisturizer With Vitamin C

It is a

Lightweight, antioxidant moisturizer suitable for normal, combination skin. Vitamin C formula restores clarity and health to tired, dehydrated skin. Non-greasy.

Packaging: The packaging is very simple. With Mario Badescu you are paying for the product. Some pricey brands it seems like you are only paying for the name and the fancy packaging. Not that Mario Badescu is an expensive brand, I think it's reasonably priced.

Smell: It smells like every other moisturizer to me. It's nothing strong so it shouldn't bother anyone.

Texture/Finish: As much as I like my Clinique moisturizer I don't always care for how thick it is. So I really like how lightweight this one is.

Application: You don't need to much I would say slightly bigger than a pea.

Effectiveness: My skin feels nicely hydrated after putting it on without feeling to greasy.

Value For Money: The full size bottle is 2 oz. and it is $18 at Ulta.I bought mine in this kit. So far I have loved everything I have tried from Mario Badescu.

Availability: You can find this product at Ulta and Mario Badescus website

I hope you enjoyed day two of the Beauty Brawl. Tomorrow I will be reviewing a primer. Check out Zoe's blog Mad About Makeup to see what her pick is. Our hashtag is #bxbeautybrawl so you can follow on Instagram, Twitter, and Facebook. Now I am going to go listen to some Christmas music and try to finish the handmade gifts I thought would be a good idea to make two weeks before Christmas! Wish me luck!

What's your favorite moisturizer?

Bloggers Christmas Beauty Brawl: Freeman Charcoal & Black Sugar Mud Mask

Hello ladies and welcome to day one of the Blogger Christmas Beauty Brawl! I am late getting this posted because today was such a beautiful day I couldn't just stay inside all day. Where I live it's usually below freezing with a ton of snow on the ground so it's been very hard to get in the "Christmas spirit" Honestly I can't believe Christmas is 11 days away!

Now about the Beauty Brawl. Ten days, ten products. Four other bloggers and I have each chosen different products we want to review. Each day is a different category, I listed them below so if there is a particular day you are interested in you'll know when it is. I am really excited to share all the products I picked and I can't wait to see what the other ladies chose!

Day 1 Mask .................................................................December 14th
Day 2 Moisturizer ...................................................................December 15th
Day 3 Lip balm ...................................................................December 16th
Day 4 Primer ...................................................................December 17th
Day 5 Foundation ...................................................................December 18th
Day 6 Eye palette ..................................................................December 19th
Day 7 Brow product ...................................................................December 20th
Day 8 Mascara .........................................................................December 21st
Day 9 Blush ..........................................................................December 22nd
Day 10 Lip color .....................................................................December 23rd

Today we are reviewing a mask or treatment I chose the Freemen Charcoal & Black Sugar Mud Mask

This velvety, jet-black mud mask works like magic to moisturize, remineralize, and make skin sensationally soft! Skin-loving minerals collected from the Dead Sea have a natural nourishing effect that boosts smoothness and overall skin health. Activated Charcoal locks onto oils & toxins, then gently lifts them away without over-drying or disturbing skin. Black Sugar helps skin hold on to hydration, which helps smooth out roughness and fine lines. Perfect for normal to combination skin.
I love to try anything beauty related that has charcoal in it. Charcoal is amazing for soaking up the extra oil without drying out skin. I also love masks because I can just put it on, grab a book, and relax.

Packaging: For under $5 the packaging is great. It isn't flimsy and it's very easy to push the product out.

Smell: To me this product doesn't really smell. I don't think I have ever noticed. Which is a good thing! The fruity smelling stuff is nice but sometimes I don't want to smell anything.

Texture/Finish: Just like the description says this product has a velvety/muddy texture.

Application: The application is very easy. I put warm water on my face then apply a thin layer on my skin.

Effectiveness: It is very effective considering how much it costs. I use it religiously when I have my hormonal breakouts and my skin clears up in a week. I also broke out from using a different product once and the whole Freeman brand helped.

Value For Money: This product is under $5 and worth every penny. It works very well with my skin especially when I have hormonal breakouts. If you buy them at Ulta you can even find them buy one get one!

Availability: I buy mine at Ulta, but I have seen the Freeman brand at Walmart. You can also buy samples to test the product before buying.

I hope you enjoyed day one! You can check out Zoe's blog for her pick. Our hashtag is #bxbeautybrawl so you can search it on Instagram, Twitter, and Facebook to see everyones posts.

Tell me what you think of Charcoal skincare or masks! I would love to know your favorites.

Breast Cancer Awareness month 2015

As many of you know October is Breast Cancer Awareness month. Breast cancer is the second leading cause of death among women. For 2015 it was estimated there would be 60,290 new cases. We need to raise awareness so that someday there will be a cure. Luckily there are a LOT of great ideas for fund-raising and raising awareness.

By 2050 no woman should die of breast Cancer. Glamulet is launching their October Campaign to help make that a reality. Glamulet has a special campaign to raise awareness to prevent breast cancer. For every charm bought 50% of the sales go to a charity fund. All of the charms are beautiful and a wonderful reminder to think of all the women who have been affected by breast Cancer.

Life Update #1

I thought I would update all of you with what's going on right now in my life and why I haven't posted in a while. July 19th was my birthday and I spent it in beautiful Sanibel Island, Florida. I strongly suggest checking it out sometime! I actually won two roundtrip plane tickets so that was why I went and I took my mom with me (mommas deserve some love that day too!). The only part of the trip I didn't like was our matching sunburns! We underestimated the sun a bit so we were in pain for a while and my skin still hasn't fully recovered so lesson learned! Which is one of the reasons I haven't shared much. Peeling skin is just not cute! We were sad to go but we plan on coming again and hopefully bringing the rest of the family.
 The beach
I was waiting for Liam Hemsworth to show up lol!
The bugs here were a nightmare but the view was amazing!

Reason number two why I haven't posted is because a couple of days after we got back we got a call that a family member had to go to the hospital immediately. We didn't know much and could only pray that things would be ok. The whole weekend was spent at the hospital being together. The surgery went well and the doctor is amazing. We will do whatever we can to help on the road to recovery because that's what family does. I'm sure it won't be easy but we have to have faith. Small improvements are already happening! When I can I will share more details but for now say a prayer for my family.

I just wanted to update everyone. I haven't stopped blogging I just need some time. I do have some things like a new VoxBox, product, and many other things planned.

Natural skin care

When it came to skin care when I was younger I didn't care what I put on my face as long as I thought it worked. Now at 21 I know what my skin type is, I know what types of products I need to use, and I know what works best for me. Last year I started learning about natural skin care and how awesome it is. Since then I have been trying to use more natural products and today I would like to share some of the things I have found with you. I can't guarantee that everything listed is 100% natural but it is a LOT better than some things out there.

A little bit of information on my skin. It is combination. My T-zone can get very oily so anything that can tame it is great. As I am getting older it is getting a lot better especially since I treat it better than when I was younger. Every month I get very bad hormonal acne which takes about a week to clear up. My skin can be a little sensitive so I try to use gentle products and only use things that are a bit harsh when I need to use it.

The Body Shop

Seaweed Ionic Clay Mask - Combination/Oily skin   $23
Here is the description on their website.
This revitalizing clay mask cleanses skin and controls excess oil
  • Draws out impurities
  • Clarifying
  • Refreshing
I first bought a sample at Ulta and really liked it. The sample lasted me at least 3 uses so I recommend trying it first before buying the full size because it is the priciest item I own. It's really great at soaking up the excess oil without being to drying. I only use this product about once a week so I still have a decent amount and I have had it for almost a year. So what are the benefits of seaweed? Seaweed is anti-inflammatory so it can help reduce the swelling from acne. It also works as a natural exfoliant  removing dead skin cells, which blocks pores.

InstaNatural *I reviewed both of these products. You can read it here.*

Pore Tightening Vitamin C Facial Toner - All skin types   $17.49
Here is the description on their website.
InstaNatural’s Vitamin C Facial Toner is a hydrator infused with anti-aging ingredients that leave your skin feeling fresh and clean with each use. Our formula harnesses the power of Vitamin C which renews the skin and neutralizes free radicals to minimize UV damage. This leaves you with stronger and more protected skin. Witch Hazel’s astringent properties reduce the oil in your skin and tighten your pores while sulfur works with other ingredients to increase your skin’s elasticity. Balance your skin’s natural pH levels with each spray of our toner designed with both men and women in mind.
  • Vitamin C in our formula provides antioxidant power to fight against environmental factors, which restores your skin’s health and youthfulness
  • Preps your pores for serums and moisturizers
  • Fights oily skin by removing excess oil and restoring natural pH levels
  • Gentle formula recommended for all skin types
I really love this toner. I stopped using my proactive toner because this is very gentle on my skin. It also smells really good!

Anti-Aging Hyaluronic Acid Serum    $16.45
Here is the description on their website.
InstaNatural’s Hyaluronic Acid Serum contains botanically derived Hyaluronic Acid along with antioxidants such as Vitamin C, Jojoba Oil and Green Tea. Hyaluronic Acid is known to help the skin retain moisture by sustaining up to 1,000 times its weight in water, making it the perfect hydrator for your skin.
  • Vegan formula
  • Soothes dehydrated and flaky skin
  • Works to keep your skin youthful by increasing strength and firmness
  • Enriched with Vitamin C, Green Tea and Aloe for a boost in antioxidants
  • A perfect companion to your beauty routine to increase moisture and hydration
  • Gel-like texture glides easily into the skin and absorbs in seconds
When I get a new checking account this will be one of the products I buy. I used this product religiously when I first got it now that I am getting low I try to use it once or twice a week. When I used it everyday my skin looked absolutely amazing! My best friend noticed a difference in my skin when I used it for about a week and said my skin was glowing.

Lush
Coalface - Combination/Oily skin   $13.95 I bought mine in the store for $7 because they cut it smaller. *This is the photo from Lush's website. I have just a little sliver now so it wouldn't have been a good picture.*
Here is the description on their website.
Coal Face is ideal for those of you who loving washing your faces with a good, old-fashioned bar of soap. Except, there’s nothing antiquated about this preservative-free facial cleanser. Inspired by the complexion bar in ‘Annie Hall’, we created Coal Face for combination to oily faces. Powdered charcoal absorbs excess sebum and acts as a mild exfoliator, while rosewood and sandalwood oils reduce redness and clear up blemishes. Use Coal Face daily for clear, balanced skin.
I have had this product for almost a year and it will probably last two more months. I recommend finding a Lush store because it's a really fun experience. They will ask you if it's your first time and sit you down to basically give you a free hand massage showing how their products work. For stuff like Coalface they will cut the size you need so one petal is around $7 depending on the weight.

Lush Lip Scrubs   $9.95
We also need to take care of our lips. I got a Lush lip scrub for Christmas and love it. The main ingredients in mine are sugar, extract of cherries and dates. It tastes like Coca-Cola! I really wish I could keep buy this one but they have other great flavors like bubblegum and popcorn.

Witch Hazel - I got this product from Walmart in the medicine section. There are a couple of different brands but they are all reasonably priced. I got the Walmart brand for under $2 because it was my first time using just witch hazel.

Witch hazel is amazing for skin. I will use it as another cleanser to remove the makeup I missed and as my toner. Witch hazel is one of the ingredients in a lot of skin care like toner so it is completely safe for the skin. The two main reasons why I really like it are: It is very budget friendly and very gentle on the skin. When I use my proactive toner it can irritate my skin so it's really nice having  toner that won't do that to my skin.
Here are some of the benefits of using witch hazel.
  • Treating acne
  • Removing excess oil
  • Refreshing skin
  • Reducing puffy eyes
  • Pore tightening
  • Blackheads disappearing
Those are just some of the benefits of witch hazel! I didn't even include the medical benefits. If you would like to learn more about the benefits of witch hazel you can read about it here.

Honey

Benefits of using honey.
  • Anti-bacterial
  • Anti-inflammatory
  • Full of antioxidants
  • Moisturizing
  • Soothing
  • Clarifying
I did a LOT of research before buying honey. This is was started my love of natural skin care so I really wanted to make sure I bought the right kind. Make sure it is 100% pure raw honey. If it needs softened put in in the microwave for a couple of seconds. I put a thin layer on my skin and focus mostly on the t-zone. Honey is anti-bacterial so it is great for acne! It even helps with burns! I used nair on my lip and put some honey on afterwards and it helped a lot with the pain. I bought a small jar at a local grocery store in the organic section. I think it will last me a while so start with something small. Some people have asked me if having honey on my face bothers me and it doesn't. Once it's on my face it doesn't feel sticky at all it just feels like a mask. It's extremely easy to remove, all you need is a washcloth and warm water. I have read it's also great for hair so I am going to look into that.

I hope you enjoyed my natural skin care post. I look forward to finding other products and sharing them with you. If you liked this post comment down below and let me know what you liked and if you plan on buying any of the products.

Sally Hansen No More Mistakes Manicure Clean-up Pen REVIEW

I have been using the Sally Hansen clean-up pen recently so I thought I would do a little review on it. Enjoy!

First of all I love the whole clean-up marker idea. The last thing I want to be doing with nails that are drying is messing with a bottle of nail polish remover. I am oh so talented at ruining my nails so anything that can prevent me from doing further damage is awesome in my book. It is very easy to use and does a good job cleaning the skin.

However there is one con to this product and that would be the smell. Now I can usually do well with weird smells and just get used to them, but this smell is really bad. I would much rather smell normal nail polish remover. I did buy it about two years ago but I doubt that is why. Maybe I just got a bad one? Who knows. I just know when I use it I can't get to close. So proceed with caution when buying this product. It works really well but you have to deal with a very unpleasant smell.

Do you have this product? What are your thoughts on it? Comment down below I would love to know what you think about it and if you found my review helpful.
